Xenith Consulting, CoalBed Energy Consulting, and Major Ideas have formed a joint venture company called Gas in Ground Services (GIGS). GIGS brings together a wealth of experience in coal seam geology and operations, gas evaluation and management, and the extraction and economics of coal seam gas in Australia and overseas. This combination of experience, and the depth of knowledge found within GIGS, allows a comprehensive evaluation of coal seam gas resources.
Xenith Consulting is based in Brisbane and Sydney, Australia, and has a consulting team of approximately 45 mining engineers, geologists, and business analysts. Xenith has the technical, operational and management expertise to develop innovative, practical solutions to the needs of the resources industry.
Xenith has significant experience in coal mining and all aspects of coal seam geology, having been involved in numerous coal projects, ranging from the management and delivery of the geological, mining, and valuations for pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, large mining fleet selection, project acquisitions and due diligence, and peer reviews. Xenith also works extensively with clients in all aspects of detailed operations planning including detailed mine design, planning & scheduling for drill & blast, draglines, truck / shovel, coal mining, and coal processing.
Major Ideas specialises in coal seam gas approvals and tenement management processes, and have had involvement in gas trading agreements at a corporate and government level. Major Ideas have also performed audit functions for gas estimation and ASX announcement reviews.
CoalBed have been working with Mr. Steve Hennings, the Principal of Source Rock Engineering (SRE) for many years now. Steve is a Senior Petroleum Engineer with more than 25 years of domestic and international experience in a wide variety of reservoir and production engineering roles. Mr. Hennings is based in the US and specialises in development and exploration evaluations for both gas and oil. His primary focus for the past nine years has been on all phases of Unconventional Gas, including Shale Gas, Tight Gas, Coalbed Methane, Coal Mine Methane development and on reviving Mature Oil and Gas fields. CoalBed has worked closely with Mr. Hennings on projects in Australia and North America over the past ten years.
