CoalBed Energy Consultants (CoalBed) extends the work of CoalBed Concepts (formed in 1998) under a restructured and more streamlined business model. The company are independent consultants involved in the resource and energy sectors, with specialist skills in reservoir assessment, Coal Seam Gas (CSG) characterisation, fugitive emission assessment and reporting, geology and exploration, due diligence and project development.
CoalBed was formed in January 1998 to provide geological services, business development and project management skills and technology to the Australian and international coal seam resource industry, with a strong emphasis on coal seam gas and coal mine methane. The company provides services in reservoir characterisation, exploration management, prospect evaluation, due diligence, geology, geotechnical engineering and geophysics. CoalBed has worked extensively in all of the developing Australian CSG basins for a large range of clients. CoalBed Energy Consultants also includes in its client list all of the major coal mine operators in Australia, and key related service and technology providers in drilling and gas control. CoalBed has actively participated in business development and technology transfer projects in Australia, New Zealand, North America, China, India, Mongolia, Indonesia, Brazil and South Africa.
CoalBed are now truly international in outlook, and one of the leading private independent companies in Australia specialising in CSG and gas associated with mining operations (Coal Mine Methane). In recent years CoalBed has been at the forefront in assessing fugitive emissions from mining operations to satisfy the requirements of the Nation Greenhouse Energy Reporting (NGER) Act, CoalBed is currently acting as independent Estimators (for NGER reporting purposes) for our major mining clients.
The company is increasingly involved with external training, and seeks to develop and enhance professional standards for the resource and energy industries. The company has specialist skills in professional development, and run regular industry courses to individuals or groups through requested in-house training, or via packaged training modules associated with the IIR Informa Group in Australia. CoalBed is also presenting regular CSG related courses for clients in Asia.
